Last week I mentioned there are many health benefits to pumpkins so I figured this week we might as well explore some of them!! Fall is the season of pumpkin everything so it is perfect timing!!

Pumpkins are the super food of the season (combine them with cinnamon and the health benefits are remarkable)!! Pumpkin is full of antioxidants!! They are also contain twice the daily recommended intake of Vitamin A which makes them great for your vision and helps keep our skin, teeth, and bones healthy!!

Pumpkin seeds are great for us too!! They are full of phytoestrogens which help lower blood pressure. Pumpkin seeds are also packed with tryptophan (the same stuff in Turkey)that helps our bodies produce serotonin which helps us sleep better!!

Pumpkin seeds are also packed with fiber, 1.7 grams per ounce, and protein!! That will help us feel fuller longer!

Pumpkin puree contains a lot of riboflavin and folate which helps fight off bacterial infections. Pumpkins are also excellent for keeping our hearts healthy!!

There are so many health benefits from pumpkins, but I wanted to share a recipe or two. Thanksgiving is not the same without pumpkin pie, unfortunately that isn’t the best way to eat pumpkin. Try adding chunks when roasting veggies or add some seeds to a salad.
