At Hotmess we work hard and play hard! We know the importance of a good rest day. It can be hard to take a break from working out when you have goals you want to accomplish. But you have to remind yourself just how important it is. If you need some reminders allow me.
- A rest day provides your muscle tissues time to recover. Working out breaks down and stretches our muscles. Taking that rest day gives them time to recover and be ready for the next workout. If we don’t take that rest day the chances of damaging those tissues and sustaining injuries is high and then your chances of reaching your goals are lessened.
- Working out depletes our energy reserves and often leaves us feeling fatigued. Taking that rest day helps restore our energy and gives us the energy we need for our next workout.
- Burnout. It happens to the best of us. If we push ourselves and go all the time we will burnout eventually. Taking the time to rest helps us prevent burnout and keeps on track to reaching our goals.
The American College of Sports Medicine recommends one day of rest before working the same muscle group. Hotmess has cardio days Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and On the Ball days Tuesdays and Thursdays to allow time for muscles to rest and recover before working them again.
