Today’s healthy tip is for after a good workout. Protein!! Did you know it is important to get some good healthy protein after a workout? It is all about helping our bodies repair and restoring the muscles we have broken down. We just exercised to help our bodies so why not keep that going?!
It is best to get that protein in your body 30 minutes after your workout while your muscles are primed to absorb it. So plan ahead. If you know you won’t be home to get your protein pack it with you.
There are options when it comes to sources of protein. A great one is a shake. There are a lot of options when it comes to shakes so find what you like. They are available everywhere or you can make your own (adding whey protein powder is great). If shakes aren’t your thing you can always get protein from food. Try eating eggs, greek yogurt, chicken, a high protein cereal, or chocolate milk. For the vegetarians and vegans there are tons of options too. Quinoa, lentils, green leafy vegetables, and nuts to name a few. So do some research and find what works for you.
